[As Rika promised, she's currently recording her gym battle in Azalea. The battle seems to be going well for Rika, although she runs into a bit of trouble when her Vulpix becomes poisoned, becoming weak. However, Rika is able to solve the problem quickly and turn the tides back into her favor.]

Hope! Finish off his last pokémon! Use Fire Blast! [The Vulpix does just that, causing the opponent's pokémon to faint. As soon as the battle is over, Rika scoops up her Vulpix into her arms in celebration.] We did it! Nipaa!

[She faces the camera and holds up the badge with her free hand and grins.]

It's a complicated story. Do you have time, Furude?

Of course I do.

[Mitsuru lets out a breath and shuts her eyes, before she opens them again with a new resolve]

The Kirijo Group... my grandfather's, then my father's, and now... I suppose my company, did much research on creatures called Shadows. However... my grandfather was playing with fire, and ultimately, there was an accident.

This accident created two things: a labyrinth called the Tartarus, and the Dark Hour. The hidden hour that occurs only at midnight. During the Dark Hour, anyone without the potential was transmogrified into a coffin.

The Shadows began terrorizing the city, unbeknown to anyone who was not aware of their existence. Those who were attacked by Shadows during the Dark Hour eventually suffered from an illness called Apathy Syndrome. Needless to say... the Kirijo Group needed to clean up its mess and prevent the Shadows from attacking members of the city.

This... this is where my comrades and I came in.

Were you able to succeed in preventing the attacks?

Yes... we were.

But in the midst of our attempts to stop the Shadows, a new threat came into being.

Her name was Nyx.

What she a Shadow herself?

... not precisely.

She was death personified. It was her coming that was supposed to bring about the Fall.

It was to be the end of the world as we knew it.

... Death personified? Was she similar to the Grim Reaper?

[there's a pause as Mitsuru thinks back to fighting the Nyx avatar... she certainly looked like the Grim Reaper]

I believe she was far more malicious than the Grim Reaper could ever be.

[... could she really say that, though? After what they had learned about Nyx in the Abyss of Time?]

One of my comrades... Minato Arisato. He gave his life to protect us from her. Though we all fought her together, side by side, he was the one... who saved us all.

... He died?

[she lowers her head a bit and nods]

[Rika reaches her hand out to pat Mitsuru on the head.] I am sure that he knew he was going to die. I am also sure that he was glad that he was successful in defeating Nyx.

[Mitsuru glances up, a bit surprised]

... yes, I believe he did it willingly. Still... his loss hurt us all.

Yes, I am sure that it did. I cannot say that I have had an experience that was close to that... However, I do know how you feel.

I suppose you could say that. However, I have only been through several different experiences like that... only, I have been through each many times.

Nevertheless, constantly reliving your death...

Although... I did become numb towards it after a while.
