[It's sometime midday when Rika turns the Gear on, and faces the camera towards herself. She's currently sitting down on the trail right outside of Goldenrod, coming back from a training session with her team.] Mii. Training really is a lot of fun. It's a great way to spend time with all of my pokémon. [She grins as a Ninetails nuzzles against her face.] Ah, that's right! Hope has finally evolved. She's become very strong, and I decided that it was time for her to evolve, and now she's gotten even stronger. [Rika pats the Ninetails on the head.] I'm very proud of her.

[There's a small pause before Rika smiles again.] As of today, I have a new member on my team! [She puts the Gear down for a moment as she releases a pokémon. Once she picks it back up, Rika now has a Bulbasaur in her lap.] I'm not exactly sure what to name him yet, but I know that I will come up with a good name! Nipaa!

I've noticed that so many people seem to have really interesting names for their pokémon. How do you decide what to name your pokémon?

Well...besides Pom, I've been naming my Pokémon after my friends from home. They're usually who they remind me of.

They do act a lot like people, don't they?

They do. They have a lot more personality than the...animals back home.

But I wouldn't even call Pokémon animals either, because they're too smart for that.

I wouldn't either. I'm not exactly sure what to call them, though.

Hmmm...I guess Pokémon will have to be good enough for now, huh?

I've been all right! I'm currently in Goldenrod.

Which town are you in?

I'm in Violet City. Still.

[He chuckles and rubs the back of his head.]

I don't mind, though! As long as I'm with friends I'm fine.

Being with friends definitely makes it a lot more fun.

Have you tried the gym yet?

Not yet. Don't worry though -- I'll be sure to tell everybody when I do!

Things just keep coming up, is all.

Well...Dagger disappeared. And before that, my friends Eiko and Vivi left too. I lost a lot of time trying to look for them.

[And that hadn't exactly worked. :|]

[He looks sad for a moment, before his usual smile comes across his face.]

But I'll just have to hope that they'll come back is all!

[Rika gives him a worried glance before smiling as well.]

I'm sure they will one day! I thought that no one from Hinamizawa would ever be here, but now two of my best friends are here.

I'm really glad you have some friends here!

[She grins right back.] So am I.

Are you guys traveling together?

I'm traveling with Keiichi, but Satoko is still behind since she hasn't been here for very long.

Oh, alright. At least you're traveling with one, right?

Yes. Hopefully I will be able to travel with Satoko soon.

I hope so too! How far away is Satoko?
