011 [video/action]

[It's sometime midday when Rika turns the Gear on, and faces the camera towards herself. She's currently sitting down on the trail right outside of Goldenrod, coming back from a training session with her team.] Mii. Training really is a lot of fun. It's a great way to spend time with all of my pokémon. [She grins as a Ninetails nuzzles against her face.] Ah, that's right! Hope has finally evolved. She's become very strong, and I decided that it was time for her to evolve, and now she's gotten even stronger. [Rika pats the Ninetails on the head.] I'm very proud of her.

[There's a small pause before Rika smiles again.] As of today, I have a new member on my team! [She puts the Gear down for a moment as she releases a pokémon. Once she picks it back up, Rika now has a Bulbasaur in her lap.] I'm not exactly sure what to name him yet, but I know that I will come up with a good name! Nipaa!

I've noticed that so many people seem to have really interesting names for their pokémon. How do you decide what to name your pokémon?

Congratulations! Your team must be quite powerful by now. Have you had Hope for a long time?

Let's see. I named my Clefairy after my wife, my Banette after one of my swords, and my Butterfree and my Growlithe after two spells from my world. Nothing very original, I'm afraid.

Congratulations, Furude.

I name mine after French poets and authors. Penthesilea and Artemisia, however, have names that originate from a different source.

Congrats!

[He appears thoughtful as he thinks this question over.]

Well...besides Pom, I've been naming my Pokémon after my friends from home. They're usually who they remind me of.
foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

Huh... I dunno. I just name 'em whatever seems right.

Hey, that's not fair. You're getting ahead of me.

... She's beautiful, Rika-chan. [ and she means it. Inari, poking her head into the screen, seems awed for once. Is that what she'll be? ] And congratulations on a new member! As for your question, I've mostly done French terms and mythological figures.

It is kind of fun. But don't tell anyone I admitted that. Nice pokemon by the way.

Let's see, I named Splash because that was the only attack she could do at first. Tashigi is a bird and reminds me of my Ensign who's named after a bird, so it was fitting. Ten is rock-stacking reference, and Pip is because he's freakishly cheery.
